I'd really like to see those notes.... but I'm sure there is a blog or an article around too... mmm *googles* - I can only find this - http://k-punk.abstractdynamics.org/archives/011675.html - and refs to it.... maybe there isn't an article.

I tried to write about the kiss a while back, not a great post admittedly -doubt it aligns with fetishism - more about shunting a seam into the logos/phone shism... but The Kiss isn't really voco - it's oral - I think my post sort of grapples with this major devision.

The cool thing about the voice is it's so flighty, at one moment it's so bodily, grainy, so personal and unique - but it can be totally removed from this corporeality and still haunt, still carry logos.... and the auto-affectation dilemmas around voice play into this dynamic, cut through and invert.....

but sound, dislocation, cyborgian themes, the logos/phone or zoe/bios splits etc, the history of phonocentricism etc really all pivot around what the voice means for presence, and how it means different things for presence in different contexts. The voice can be the ultimate horrorific presence of oneself as other - a brutal presence - but then on the other hand it can still exist as utter unpresence as, as a crappy vocal on a bad line - almost as removed as dead html code......Tristam Vivian Adamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04613004272730505628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4825191828264784111.post-74090781428084179372012-02-07T06:53:35.050-08:002012-02-07T06:53:35.050-08:00Thanks! Yes I have some notes on a talk Mark gave about "The metaphysics of crackle" - linking to the idea of Hauntology as 'the surface noise of obsolete materialities' could be interesting in relation to developments in communication technologies.

I think there in something in this fetish aspect too - the voco-fetisism that you posted about perhaps? That bit in the Ronell text about the kiss made me think of your post also - "The Kiss is the abolition of sense, the miniaturization of all postal systems" (p343) So back to Derrida again!Amy Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03800540714190019557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4825191828264784111.post-72162686062812019272012-02-07T04:02:57.382-08:002012-02-07T04:02:57.382-08:00wow amy, fantastic post - massive amount to think ...wow amy, fantastic post - massive amount to think about there, especially the chasm of telephonic exchanges in relation to derrida.... crackle is a re-emerging theme... there's an essay (I think by Mark) about the emergence of crackle and it's meaning... the osmosis of human and technology presence and dislocation is interesting too.....the voice is like a ghost, passing through walls and territories....a body but not, a presence but not.......echo cho 0 0 0 0 0 ....Tristam Vivian Adamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04613004272730505628noreply@blogger.com
